Wisconsin's first Dave & Buster's, described as a Chuck E. Cheese's for adults, is set to open in Wauwatosa on March 1. Do you think the establishment will be good or bad for the city?

(171) Read All ResponsesLet's think about this. Jobs created. Jobs kept for video game makers and all along the support chain. All this in a time where there is precious few of those things going around and won't be for quite some time. I like the idea.
New business is always good. I agree witht the person who wanted it farther north on HWY 100. location, location, location. My concern is that Traffic will be horrific. To get to this location from the freeway you either need to get off the north bound exit and cross three busy lanes of traffic in one city block to turn right into the parking lot or get off at the west bound North ave exit make a uturn and come back to HWY 100 or get off at Swan blvd about a mile away. Every way is a traffic concern. That said I still like the business coming to WI and Wauwatosa.
I think new business and new recreation is great for Urban areas. However, many areas of Milwaukee County still have severe racial under tones. As a minority I don't and won't spend my money in establishmenst or municipalities where residents make comments like "what kind of people will a business like this attract" . Last time I checked all humans are created equal. Overall I think it's a good idea but the racist faction will always have objections. Move on people otherwise you will be left behind.
This is classic dumbing down of America. This isn't front page news and if it's an ad please say so. I wish I could have this amount of free advertising for my businesses.
Just curious, Larry, what "type of people" will be going to Dave and Buster's. Families looking for a great way to celebrate birthdays and other events, groups looking for an affordable night out in an active environment where you're not just sitting around drinking, perhaps even employees from local establishments looking for an fun way to burn off steam during a happy hour? Just curious....
I think it is a good idea for more jobs BUT the arera is ALL wrong. Mayfair Mall has gone down hill because of the gangs that hang out there and all the problems they have had there. I also agree that it should have been built north of Burleigh on Hwy 100 - why not at the old locaiton of the Ponderosa! Traffic is goign to be a mess in that area. I feel that DWS and Walgreens are going to suffer because of this traffic issue.
I think the Dave and Buster's will be very well welcomed. A great, fun place for adults. I think requiring minors to be accompanied by an adult will keep the trouble to a minimum. Lets keep in mind that anytime alcohol is involved, some people (no matter what type) tend to not be able to control themselves. I drove to Chicago just to go to Dave and Buster's and it is a great place. Larry - Wauwatosa what exactly do you mean by "type of people"? This statement seems a bit racist....
Is the Pope Catholic? Jobs & tax revenues, how could that be a bad thing? I have no doubts that D&B just franchises out their names and let's underage drinking and unruly behavior go on in their franchises. I've never heard anything bad about other cities that brought in a D&B.
Dave & Buster's will create nothing but trouble and crime to the city of Wauwatosa. The city should be ashamed of themselves for approving this. This will be a nightmare for the city of Tosa and all its residents!
Yes lets put it across the street from the mall that had all the young adults issues. So when they get kicked out of the mall they can go to D&B and tear that place up. There will be a riot or a shooting before the end of the year and the place will be closed before the 2nd year ends.
This place could work out well if they put up metal detectors at the entrance and charge a hefty cover charge to keep out the riff raff.
I drove by it the other day and I like that it is a decent distance from any residences. I really wouldn't worry too much about the violence that is presumed to occur, because it may not occur. The think the location is just right, it is down the road from Mayfair, but I really don't think anybody intends to walk there from Mayfair. I think it will do good for Tosa, and I think people need to chill out a bit about the negatives of it that may never happen.
These comments about how Mayfair is dangerous are a joke. I go there fairly often, sometimes with my 2 year old son. I've never felt anything but safe. If going to Mayfair scares you I really feel sorry for you. Your life must be filled with terror. D&B's goal is to make money. They understand that a bad rep will make people less inclined to come. It will do great business.
I'm thrilled that Dave & Buster's is opening in 'Tosa! It is a great national chain that attracts a fun-loving crowd. Since I work close to this location, I imagine that I will be joining my colleagues for more than one "team building exercise" at Dave & Buster's. Cheers!
Who knows, it might turn out to be nice place with nice people. We won't know till it opens in March. Let's not be negative so quick. If there's going to be trouble, noise, traffic, etc. I'm sure the neighbors of Tosa are going to be the first to complain and D&B will see that they (the neighbors) will not stand for it for very long. And I don't think the police will either, cause if there are too many problems it will be hard for D&B to get their liquor lisence renewed every year. Now Larry, no disrespect to you but what type of people are you referring to? White, afican-american, hispanic, asian? These days you have to watch what you are saying because you do sound like a racist. Maybe you are the type who shouldn't go to D&B.
Larry---ovbviously never been to a Dave and Busters...This is a fantastic national chain that is geared toward middle income and upper income adults....think a brewery type feel with an attached game room....try it before you knock it...you'll be surprised at how much fun you can have...if you have fun. My husband and I have had many fun times in Dave and Busters across the country. Usually they are close to urban mall ares for the increased population/business traffic...not out in the middle of no where. If it's not your cup of tea, don't go...but it will only bring revenue to an area it opened in. I WISH they opened it in the Bayshore area instead so we didn't have to go over to TOSA!-- the overpriced, over rated, upscale West Allis.
Some of the comments here are just amazing. I have spent a number of evenings at the Dave and Busters in Addison, IL and it is a nice place to hang out for an evening. Fine Larry, sit in your basement and hope no one comes to your town!
It's obvious that most of you have never been to a D & B's. Food is very good, prices reasonable and kids love it. I can't imagine why you folks think it will bring "undesirables" yet you tolerate a strip joint 4 miles up the road.
Will Add Jobs to TOSA PD that is
The place hasn't even opened, yet but people are prediciting gang activity, riots & shootings!? We're talking about a restaurant with video games, not an combination strip club & outdoor shooting range. It's D&B's charge to maintain the right atmosphere. If they do so, they'll be fantastically successful and make a significant contribution to the City.
I want Dave & Busters to succeed. But, I look at the problems that Chuck E. Cheese has in Brookfield and I think that it might be a problem. The jobs and tax revenue are good for the community, but if the police are there 100+ times a year does it really amount as a gain? In addition, I just need to point out there are just as many hispanic, white, and asian trouble makers as African American. The problems are not race specific.
Unlike most with access to a computer and this forum, I'm looking forward to checking out D&B. If parking is a pain or it's like Chuck E Cheese I won't go back. I was at a D&B in NYC and if it's like that, it should be fun! Everybody chill out and check it out before judging....I doubt one business will affect the entire community.
It'll be fine, relax. Have you been to a D & B before ? It's not exactly the place I see thugs hanging out at. If it's run the same as the other D & B's I've been to before, it will be fine. It's not exactly inexpensive to eat and play there. I do agree that it would have been better in a less congested area. Give it a chance to work though, it's actually a very cool franchise.
Larry | Wauwastosa is right on. Gang banger hang out. I wont be taking my family there. Stupid move by tosa and Dave & Busters. Have fun.
1. No one under 21 let in after 9pm. 2. You need a guardian if you are under 18. 3. Private security guards made up of off duty cops. What else do you people want? Sounds like a lot of veiled racism by some in tosa. "Just take a look at the type of people..." ...and "because of the gangs that hang out there and all the problems they have had there..." So of all the places that D&Bs are located and no problems they have had there, milwaukee is going to break the mold? N-Not I-In M-My B-Back Y-Yard
I was so looking forwarded to the Dave & Busters opening up in WI. I just think opening up in Tosa is going to be a bad idea. Not going to feel so safe and there is going to be as much trouble there like the mall has. Hopefully I will be wrong.
For those of you who think anything that creates jobs is okay, why don't you lobby to make prostitution, drugs, etc. legal? Think of all the jobs that could produce! I believe this place will be a flash in the pan. It's too expensive and the games are for those without much between their ears, and they tend not to have much money. At least hookers would get alot of repeat business and could build a steady clientele. And think of the gold-toothed pimps who would get rich and move into your neighborhood.
Lets see jobs and tax revenue. Good Fears of crime and problems without a whit of evidence. D&B does a great job of controlling that element as evidenced by their other stores. So live in fear and emotion, or apply some facts and practical knowledge---the choice is yours.
dave and buster's is a nice business, but, it really has no place in that area. it will be a magnet to attract trouble, get visibility on radio and tv because of it, and continue to give mayfair a bad rap because of its location to dave and buster's. dave and buster's should have moved into the grand ave mall or the vacant space in south ridge instead if they wanted to be a good neighbor to milwaukee and suburbs. the mayfair area is going to be crazy with auto traffic from friday nite thru sunday night because of dave and buster's. thanks for thinking of us dave and buster.
I know Dave & Buster's is a great addition to Wauwatosa. This is a place that can really step up and entertain the "entire" family, both kids and parents. I say it is about time they made it here. It will boost the economy by bringing in more jobs and also offer another great alternative for families looking for something to do with their kids in the winter. What some people also may not know is they do is they also do team building and corporate events. You can even rent out the entire facility for private events. That is a plus for our corporate market that has been struggling for quite some time. What disappoints me in general is that so many people in "Wisconsin" are not open to change and keeping up with the trends in the rest of the nation. Quit being so negative and expecting trouble with traffic, rif raff from kids and the rest of the unforseen issues. Let's instead be happy for all the positives and maybe next time not be one of the "last states" to build a large and successful franchise in our community.
Oh joy... another chain restaurant. The games are meant to distract you from the awful food.
This will be a magnet for trouble. I will not feel safe going there with my family. It's going to be very ghetto.
I'm guessing the crowd will be similar to what congregates in and around Mayfair as well the Bowlero on Burleigh. For a preview, take the kids to a movie at Mayfair and then bowling some night this weekend. Judge for yourself.
I don't knock D&B for wanting to make some money. Just wish they had put it somewhere like 76th and Capitol, rather than in Tosa. Since it is in Tosa, I hope that it has really good security and is expensive enough to keep the wrong element out. And don't turn this into a racial issue, because I have seen just as many problem people from West Allis and Franklin, as I have from the near north side of Milwaukee. I want all the problem people out so families can enjoy, without the fear they will be tormented or have their property damaged.
It is nice to see development along that corridor but the traffic will be terrible. Have you ever tried to get to Walgreens from the Mayfair road exit to the South of North Ave? You have to go through the lights and into their parking lot off of Eastbound North Ave. This may cause back ups into the light with people trying to get into Walgreens or D&B. Or there may end up being more morons who think this is Florida and that we make U turns at stop lights. I wish I had a dollar for every time I have seen this law broken.
I plan to get drunk and start fights every night.
I wish D & B opened up at Bayshore also. Then the crime would be in Bayshore, NOT Tosa!!
This is the worst possible thing for Wauwatosa. They did try to fight it but lost. All of the troubles that used to plague Mayfair Mall will move here. There will be a shooting within 2 weeks, I guarantee it!! Also, D&B will be forced to close within 2 years. This was such a bad place to put this. It's really a shame.
Well the shooting that happened at Bowlero tonight will just carry over to Dave and Busters. Tosa is beginning to look like an unsafe place to live. A cop gets shot a few months ago and now already a second shooting. Get ready for more money going to the Tosa police department for job openings when we're going to need more cops to keep these places under control
Someone mentions no one under 21 let in after 9:00. Is that true, because the article does not say that. It won't be horrible, but I can't see adults getting that excited to go out and play video games. Skee ball? ohh sounds like great fun. And I recall when they announced this last year there was a shooting outside of a D&B's like a day later. I hope it is a success.
I think it's a great idea, but wrong location. I think Oak Creek area would have been great place for it. That area is really growing...
If this is the "Chuck E. Cheese for adults" then Tosa is in for some big trouble. Chuck E. Cheese for kids was nightmarish. I like the idea of metal detectors, cover charges, and increased police presence. I sincerely hope I am wrong but two or three years of sporadic violence should be the undoing of the business unless serious proactive measures are taken. If D& B waits to implement "curfew" types of measures until after an event occurs they will be accused of racism. If they do it from the very beginning then the field is level.,
Why must we debate everything? Of course it is good for Tosa! All you people that want to just say no to everything assuming it will be overcome by thugs need to step up and support something and start to make a difference. Complaining about traffic, drinking, violence wa wa wa. You sound like a broken record. These are good jobs that came HERE. There is traffic, drinking and violence every day in Milwaukee and every other suburb but I don't hear the outcry there. So go play some games and have a good time!
JUST LIKE THE MOVE THEATER AT MAYFAIR IT WILL BRING IN THE NO GOOD PEOPLE TO ADD TO THE DETERIORATION OF WAUWATOSA I LOVE K MART ALSO.IT'S A REAL ASSET TO TOSA
Dave and Busters are a magnet for low lifes. they serve low end formula offerings on their menus, serve alcohol (always a good mix with morons), and attempt to portray their places as outlets for "fun". We have had them in California for years and they are know to every police force whose jurisdiction they are in. My advice is, save your money and go somewhere the customers actually are civil and the food isn't craptacular.
As a former Tosa resident, I think D&B will be great for the city. The space it was built on was an eyesore unused, I believe bringing in a new place with quality food and good entertainment for adults is a good thing.
OK. Let's save all this and one year from now look back and see what really happened. Fair enough? No whining on either side...just the facts.
Friends, beer, good ribs, pool, golf, games, yes this will be big trouble!
I can't wait to go to D&B's. It's a fun place. Although, the comments about it being in a bad location traffic wise are very valid. As for the people referring to Larry's "racist" comment, I read it and thought he was referring to drunk 20-somethings. Those of you who think "those people" always refers to race are the ones who need to "move on." (Annette).
Gangs at Mayfair? Huh? "Type of people"? Wow, what a narrow-minded bunch of rednecks. What is the right type of people? Should they wear white sheets and tote burning crosses? Take your pickup and leave while there's still time! The world will be a better place without you.
People, please realize that this is all George Bush's fault......
Bad for the city. It is an invitation to the thugs that are destroying Mayfair to come to tosa and add to the riseing crime rate.
On w. Bluemound, in the heart of Brookfield in Wakesha county, the establishment that has had the most problems, calls to the police, etc has been....(drum roll please)...Chuck E. Cheese. Perhaps next to Dave and Buster's we could build a check cashing/payday loans store and a Popeye's.
I'm all for Dave and Busters comming to Tosa, But lets not beat around the bush here folks, I hear a lot of people talking about bringing their famlies to this establishment, I thought this was an adult version of chuckie cheese, not a place for kids and families,Its supposed to be a place we can go to have to get away from our crazy kids and our hectic lives, I also see you can be 18 years old to get in and you can bring in up to 6 minors with you and you don't even have to be the parent of those minors either, but im sure that won't cause problems will it? It's going to turn into another chuckie cheese just like the one in brookfield, a bunch of iresponsible parents walking around drinking beer after beer getting in fights with eachother, while the wait staff babysits their out of control kids, while they blow through their government assitance on skeeball and airhockey.I really hope that Dave and Busters works with the city of tosa to curb all the potential trouble that may be comming, we don't want this great area to turn into Northridge, If your gonna cause trouble please don't come to our nice community and ruin it for the hard working people that made it possible to have new ventures like this for YOU to destroy.
The addition of a Dave and Busters to the area is fantastic, my friends and I love going down to Chicago for a gaming trip. My concern is the location, I think they would have been better served locating it in Brookfield, as traffic will be an issue over by Mayfair. What's done is done though, and I hope it will be a shot in the arm for the local economy. Overall, I am in support.
I can't wait for this place. almost road tripped to chicago to check one out. As a 80's child, I miss the arcade experience, and as a beer loving adult, match made in heaven. I'm not to worried about the young black 'gangsters", as I suspect the envronment will be 20-30 yr old whites, they proabaly won't want to hang out there. I feel this is more like a bar/restaurant with an arcade other than an arcade with a bar. Try landmark lanes on the east side in the meantime.
It will be good. If it is an establishment that makes adults feel like children feel going to Chuckie Cheese, it is not bad. Like in anything, excessivness should be curbed by the individual but not denied. Patronizing favorite establishments is a good thing. It is good for the community and the economy. Tosa seems like a good first ring burb of the city. It should get a Fresh Market.
The location is not ideal, but this should be good addition to Wauwatosa.
This is the problem with Milwaukee. The place has NOT opened yet, and all of these unemployed asses who should be out looking for work, yet find the time to bash a business that they dont have the money to buy the doorknob for, sit at home and want to critique. Get real, get off your ass and change out of your greenbay sweatshirts, and get a life.Stupid rednecks.
I think way too many of you have you heads in the sand!!! The Wauwatosa police will NOT work with this establishment so they have to call on the Brookfield police for assistance on the police "off' times. Does this not show you that Wauwatosa police and city hall are NOT for this place!!! Will not see me or anyone from my family there!
Due to location it will be a will become a hangout and trouble will follow.
First off.. this place is ALOT more upscale than your local Chuck E. Cheese. Seriously... once you have dinner, and then decide to play games then add on the liquor tab and suddenly, you are looking at spending a little bit of cash. People who are bashing it have obviously never been to a Dave and Busters.. as I am looking forward to going once and awhile to spend some time with friends on special occasions.
I think it will be good for our community. I just hope the standards are higher than Chuck E. Cheeses (including the food and restrooms)
I don't understand all the negitivity. It sounds like some of you are "Tosa Snobs", which I've run into quite a few living here for 10 years now. It's local economic stimulation for OUR community. Don't be so negative. (Not like you'd ever frequent this establishment anyway.) You make the rest of the Tosa Community residents out to be snobs too - which not ALL of us are.
D & B will not last very long. They will most likely have to hire security, place a curfew, & will have a shooting. What can I say. Not a smart move to have it so close to Mayfair & with the problems that they have.
I feel sorry for the people afraid that gangs and shootings will happen at D&B's. Thats pretty extreme. I've been to the Mayfair area many times and have never felt unsafe. I've been to D&B's in both the Minneapolis and Phoenix areas and had fun at both locations. I know I'll be checking out the TOSA location before/after Brewer games.
I just don't think minors should be allowed, in the way it's outlined in the story. On 25+ year old can bring in up to 6 minors? If it's a "Chuck E Cheese for adults," then it should be for adults, with the exception of minors being their with their parent(s). It shouldn't be a destination getaway for groups of minors. On a side note, in regard to the problems at Chuck E Cheese...hmmmm...since it's a place for kids, maybe they should stop serving alcohol? No reason dad should have to pound pitchers of beer while junior plays in the ball pit. Ok, back to D&B...21 and over 24/7! Perfection!
Whether it's a good idea or not, the business people have spoken, and its doors will be opening soon. The writing is on the wall-- at least until they work the security bugs out. Alcohol, loud games, riled up drunks with easy access to the bus line, movie theatre across the street…. Yup, Wauwatosa cops will never be bored again. So much for the quiet village. (Of course I write hoping none of this happens, but I’m reminded of Johnson’s Park, Chuck-E Cheese fights, and every individual arcade that has closed down around here over the years.) If the problem areas can be controlled right away, they might stand a chance, but even still, that part of hwy 100 is way too busy as it is. This won’t help, mark my words.
I've heard terrible things about Dave & Buster's. The menu is loaded with trans fats and the games are only sanitized once a week. This is a public health disaster. Don't blame me when we all get the friggen gout.
What "type of people" will be going to Dave and Buster's? Just watch when there are problems like Mayfair and AMF Bowlero and see what "type of people" are involved. Inevitable. Sad but true.
I have frequented Dave & Buster's locations in St. Louis and Houston during business trips and always found the establshments to be outstanding. Though described as Chuck E. Cheese for adults, these restaurants are more similar to an upscale bar. I think the Tosa location will do well and become a draw for to the surrounding businesses.
Love Dave & Busters! I've been to a few across the country as part of corporate outings either as get-to-know your work team or your clients. As a female, it's great fun to whup a manager in a video game or a CFO in a basketball throw game. The food's decent too.Over our long winters, it will be a fun place to frequent. As a Tosa resident, my major concern with this business is the traffic. More development squashed into a small area- yet there's inadequate traffic control now. Adding more business and jobs is a positive thing, however, the City needs to add additional infrastructure to then support the businesses they approve. Hwy. 100 traffic is controlled by the State. What are they doing to help the problem? There haven't been any real signs of either the City or the State actively dealing with the traffic control problems on Watertown Plank or Hwy. 100. Too much traffic & congestion could be what causes D&B's & other businesses to fail.
If the Chuck 'e Cheese in Brookfield has problems with city parents coming out and getting into fights and the cops constantly being called. What's it going to be like at an adult version right next to Mayfair.... I give it 6 months.
Chris you are out of your mind, the local PD will definitely be working with Dave and Busters, and Tosa has the resources and the manpower to take care of their city themselves, they WILL NOT have Brookfield come assist them, I would put money you will never see a Brookfield squad at Dave and Busters!
Bad. The location is bad to begin with since it's near an intersection. Going to Walgreens & DSW is bad enough when trying to leave drive out from Mayfair Rd instead of North Ave. You think it gets crowded at the mall, wait til D&B opens; the mall crowd will flock to D&B. Guess I'll never be going to this D&B.
OK all -- did you see that there was AGAIN a shooting down the block form this new place. Anyone want to take bets on when the Wauwatosa police will be called to Dave & Buster's for the first time? I bet it will be Monday, March 1 betwwen 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 pm.!!! I guess the citizens of Wauwatosa do not care that their police force is going to be spending alot of time on the west side of town for the next year or two!
It's funny how some of you are jumping to the conclusion that Larry meant anything racist by the phrase "type of people". I think he really just meant "losers", irrespective of race. Wauwatosa has gone no where but down hill over the past few years, turning Mayfair Road into Bluemound. Maybe the elected officials should focus on returning the village to something more charming (as the website calls it), rather than a destination for teenagers and the oversaturation of big box retailers and restaurants.
It's too close to the Bus line, I stopped going to BW3's on Mayfair Road long ago because of the crowd and I have had my car window smashed in Red Lobster's Parking lot. I can't wait to see how quickly D&B becomes a problem as well.
I hope it's successful. I believe it will be and that it will be an asset to the city. I agree that it might add a bit to the congestion at an already busy intersection, but that would be true of almost any business. The complaints about D&B attracting the wrong crowd are ridiculous and embarrassing. I like to think that ours is a better community than is reflected in the racist, elitist comments coming from some of you. Whatever else D&B's will be, it's a welcome change from the abandoned car dealerships that line Mayfair and Burleigh.
The negative perspectives in this forum are for good reason. Mayfair requires almost as much police resources as they do for the rest of the Wauwatosa. Remember when the AMC Movie Theater at Mayfair had a much larger arcade and anyone could use it? This attracted loiterers and the movie theater had to reduce the size of the arcade and change policy. The arcade is now much smaller and requires a movie ticket. I have been to D&B's in Schaumburg, IL Being close to business parks draws business clientele. The HWY 100 location will simply add to the problems Mayfair already has. It will thin out the police resources to prevent more crime in areas like State Street. I think this would have worked best in Brookfield off West Bluemound or in Waukesha off HWY16. There is much more of a business presence and it would not attract the trouble makers. That is not racist, it is an accurate observation and a reasonable prediction..

I'll tell you all something: after reading all these comments (yes, I read every single one) I'm almost glad I moved away from my beloved hometown. To read all of these knee-jerk reactions before a reputable, successful chain has even opened is sad. I feel very sorry for anyone who tries to make assumptions about this business, either positive or negative, before it's even opened it's doors. I'm more ashamed by the thinly-veiled racist remarks. I'm all for freedom of speech and expression, but sometimes I also wish you had to take an IQ or civics test and display a minimal amount of intelligence before posting immature and ill-informed comments on a website. How about as a community, you try to support a new business that creates jobs? If that's not your cup of tea, then move to Detroit or Chicago and see if you like it better there.
I grew up in Milwaukee and have lived in the DFW area for 25 years. I started going to the original Dand B long ago. I have never had any issues with this establishment and it customers. This place will be tame compared to all the other taverns in the Milwaukee area. If I travel to a new city I always try to find a Dand B to patronize. They just opened one last year in Arlington Tx and no one questioned the establishment operating in the city.
Zorro thinks some of you are too shy! Zorro awaits this Dave and Busters and only wonders if he can order a refreshing sangria from the bar! Zorro can take care of himself! As long as Zorro can bring his whip and sword!
Wow...I am SO happy I don't live in Tosa. Not because D&B, but because of the people. I know only the squeaky wheels bother to post here, but come on...you'd think they were opening a puppy killing plant. Oh...and hopefully the JS passes Bill from Muskego's comments on to the police as apparently he has plans within two weeks of D&B's opening. I also love people that make wild predictions online..."I give it 6 months"..."this will be a public health disaster"...OH NO...their games are only sanitized once a week...that's probably more than your average grocery cart. Everybody meet me at D&B, we'll have a beer and relax with some skeeball.
Dave & Buster's is fun. Get out and give it a go rather than sit around and complain. You never know, you just might enjoy yourself.
I'm looking forward to the opening of the new Dave and Busters. I was to the one in Chicago with a bunch of girlfriends and it was great fun. The establishment will not tolerate the presence of individuals who do not have money to patronize it. D&B has hired non-Tosa off-duty police officers so as not to take away from Wauwatosa's police force. It is not ucommon for an entertainment venue of its size to have security. D&B is taking all the necessary precautions to prevent the types of situations many of you are afraid of. This nagativity is all so premature. Lighten up and give the place a chance!
They need to ban alcohol if they want this to survive. Drunken disorderly customers are toxic.
I hope it fails........
I'm not familiar with D & B's, but it sounds somewhat exciting. From what I've heard this is a quality, fun enterprise - there's nothing wrong with facilities like that. Traffic will obviously become somewhat of a headache. When the new Pick'n Save opened nearby, you could see the increase in traffic flow, and a slowdown in auto movement. But that's a sign of the times and business's are looking for location, location to locate their business ventures. Hwy 100 (Mayfair Rd.) is a business thoroughfare and a desirable location for establishments of this type. Now, we just have to "sit" back, obsrerve, and enjoy what is being offered.
I'm pretty sure that all the people with a negative attitude have never frequented a D&B before. I'm ashamed that I have to call you my neighbors. Whether they built in Waukesha, downtown or the current area, the troublemakers will be there. You have to know that D&B as a business will do all they can to prevent any major incidents. Not going to Mayfair or BW3's because of the crowd they attract?? That is ridiculous. You would have to be afraid to step out of your house every single day then. Come to terms that this is the world we live in. Try to be optimistic for once in your lives. Personally, I can't wait to enjoy some happy hour drinks with friends!
I think that there will be much trouble. This place will draw a crowd that likes to get loud and boisterous. Those that are out just to have a nice enjoyable evening will steer away from a place that draws an unsafe atmosphere. Unless, there is a set plan to refrain from situations that may cause the business to losse business before you even get started.
Relax. Take a deep breath. Dave and Busters is a fun place. As long as they don't tolerate bad behavior it will be a great success. I'm 41 years old and enjoy taking my family there. Check it out. You'll like it!
I can't believe how many ignorant people there are. Get out of the house every once in a while, you'll realize the world ain't as scary as it looks on TV.
Just curious.....for those who think that D & B's belongs in a place like Brookfield because it has more of a "business presence;" how does a place develop a "business presence" if it doesn't have businesses? Do people really want Wauwatosa to become the land of vacant car lots? This is an alternative-an actual business on Mayfair Road.
Having lived in Tosa for several years and ultimately see it's demise by riff raff loitering in the malls as well as the punks in the bars. I can honestly say that D&B and it's location is simply asking for trouble. Tosa needs another bar like Favre needs another interception although he does play for the enemy so maybe not a good example but I'm sure you get my drfit.
Larry & Chris you might as well say you don't want blacks around you, stop all the sugar coating and tell the truth, it's sad that every time an attractive spot comes along it's always the blacks that have to take the blame for a business not being successful. I think it's a good opportunity for job placement and i'm in support. Dave & Busters could have been south or north of burleigh, regardless it's going successful it's just that type of spot. Please save the racial comments to yourself and if you don't want it don't come out stay enclosed in your house!!!!!
If Dave and Buster's were to open in Brookfield or Mequon, then I would more optimistic (I live in Milwaukee). Wauwatosa is too close for socioeconomically disadvantaged people to infest, especially if the bus can ship them there.
good luck wauwautosa. You just created a animal you wish was never born
This is a good place for all the losers to hang out.
It will be nothing but trouble and the traffic will be terrible. Why should restuarant need a security force of Wauwatosa police officers. There will be tons of accidents coming off the freeway as everybody is tryining to cross Mayfair Road. It will attract Ghetto People and gangbangers. I would not have my corporate meeting there for my company, playing all the games and sucking my pockets dry, like sticking a Hoover vacuam hose down my pants. They will have a shooting there within a month and the police will be called there daily.
This will create new jobs!!! Tosa PD can get a sub station in D&B just like Mayfair... then the jail can hire new staff to process the offender's, the courts can hire staff to process the cases, then revenue from all the tickets. It will be great!!!! THANK YOU D&B!!!!!
Wow, am I glad I moved away from this city. Milwaukee is one of the only cities I know where white people will flip the f out over something like a movie theaters opening. Please, for the love of god, venture out of the state of Wisconsin and see how the rest of us live. Just to let you know, we have no problems with LA Gang Members at the Irvine D&B's or the one in Orange either. The place is basically for overgrown middle class frat boys to hang out at...hardly a dangerous element. By the way Tosa isn't that great...glad I grew up in Whitefish Bay, and not with all the rednecks in Tosa...a bunch of 30K millionaires if you ask me.
It's going to be too ghetto for the rest of us to enjoy.
If it is anything like the Dave and Buster's I've been to in Phoenix and Chicago, it will attract a tough crowd right away, just like the movie theater at Mayfair. Resturants as hangouts are just bad news.
I'll amend my comments: the fact that this one is new might make it brighter and more attractive than older locations. Hopefully it is a success, and I'll try it at least once with an open mind.
The fools who make the stupid semi-racist comments are the ones who should really take a real good look at yourselves and you will realize you are just as much of the problem as those who may have caused trouble in Wauwatosa! Both sides are ignorant! Milwaukee County is one of the most segregated cities in the entire nation and it will continue to be as long as we have negative forshadowing and racial profiling by police forces and citizens! I am ashamed to be a resident of Milwaukee County at times and I think we really need to get it together! Oh, and for u ignorant people who try to make remarks of hatred and stupidity, please run grammar and spell check before you hit "add your comment"! THAT IS ALL!
I've been to a D&B's in a different state and it was great fun for our entire group. We will have to wait and see what behaviors people bring to this type of atmosphere. This is not a place to bring your kids; it's for adults. Hopefully, the adults who to decide to go will act like; well adults. Only time will tell, however I am doubtful this place will be 'trouble-free'. That said, it doesn't matter what city or side of town it's in; people will go to where they want.
I have a local restaurant and when i opened I was never in the newspaper or have channel 6 visit. The city needs to support its locally owned businesses. The media doesn't get it! Do you think they will know your name or what you drink when you come in? What about the owner asking you if everything is o.k. I don't think so. and when it comes to job creation the higher paid employees there are the people D&B brought in from corporate. STAY LOCAL
Dave & Busters is a wonderfull addition to Wauwatosa.!! It is there for everyone to enjoy, and for all of you who are worried about what its going to do to to our city, well I guess you can spend you days and nights worrying. It will have security and undercovers for sure. Give it a chance before you judge. The grand opening is March 1st!!! Come and enjoy!!!
I am African American. There is a problem in our community. Our youth are running wild and its a sad state of affairs. The truth is sometimes hard to swallow. There is a lack of guidance and positive family influence within alot of households in our community. Unfortunately some kids that are products of these situations have not received the proper parental guidance in life and are rude, loud and obnoxious. This doesn't necessarily make them gang bangers just kids who lack respect/manners. These youth end up in public areas that we all at times frequent and Nonetheless, the milwaukee youth will find their way to D&B... in numbers. The majority of these youth will be well mannered and respectful however, there will be a small number that will lash out and at times cause big issues. History has prepared us for this. I don't think it's necessarily negative to have this viewpoint, it is what it is. I wish it wasn't this way and I pray daily for my community. I'm sure we all (white, black, asian, hispanic ...) want to feel safe where ever we chose to go in our town. If D&B and Tosa police take a stand and send out a STRONG message of zero tolerance from day one, this establishment could see a long successful run.
Wauwautosa residents complain about a declining business tax base with the county grounds not paying anything to Tosa. Here you have a great, national chain that has a good business track record across the country and, before the doors are open, people are fearing the worst. Give it a chance. It could be the business blessing Tosa really needs!
Reading these posts makes me laugh. I've been living in Milwaukee now for about 9 months and if there is one thing that i noticed right away, it's that the hood/ghetto/trashy people are all over Milwaukee Country. Tosa is no oasis thats free and clear of the trash before D&B. My only wish is that D&B was placed downtown to bring business back to Wisconsin Avenue so that I will not have even go to Tosa. The main people that are complaing probably wouldn't go to D&B no matter where it was located. I'm excited that a new business is here in Milwaukee. I've been to several D&B's and it's not a cheap place to hang out at. The food is pricey as well as the games. If the 'bad' people show up, i'm certain it'll be out of their price range anyway. Everyone needs to relax and enjoy the fact that Milwaukee is still growing! I wonder how happy the Tosa residents would be if all of the big box stores left and their taxes shot through the roof... Stop being so critical of everything and enjoy life!
I haven't read a single racist response on this board, aside from the reverse racism. Saying something will attract the wrong type of people, or saying that it will get ghetto isn't racist. It's base off fact. Doesn't matter what color your skin is - pull your pants up, get the crap out of your mouth when you speak, so it's coherent and understandable, and act like a good person/citizen. Everyone on the board saying it's racist to say these things are ignorant, and full of it. You can't blame the people who are worried that a bar going up across from a mall who has to install a curfew for getting "bent out of shape." Don't act like idiots, "we" won't label you as one. This has nothing to do with skin color. It has everything to do with character.
You want to see how bad it will get? Go to Stonefire Pizza and see what kind of zoo THAT PLACE is turning out to be!
We "Tosa Snobs" like family activities...I'm not so sure this is the kind of safe family fun we want...but let's try it...unfortunately, it'll be a lot harder to close than it was to let it open in the first place. The location is awful...there'll be more collisions on Mayfair Rd. for sure...at least it's close to the Tosa cops and the Tosa jail.
As long as they have enough security to keep out the trash, D&B will be an Awesome place to go. I can't wait.
I am SO excited about D&B opening in Tosa!! We have been to a number all across the country and can not wait for the fun to begin here! Our children (5, 4 and 1) are beyond thrilled that it is coming and hope that we take them within the first few days. I am 100% sure that they will get their wish! We will take them during the day and leave by early evening, when the crowds tend to lean more towards adults having a great time! I also look forward to getting a sitter and going on a date with my hubby so that we can enjoy a few adult beverages while we play the video games ourselves. A good number of you have been before and know the fun atmosphere that is at a D&B's - I hope to see a bunch of you there! For those of you that haven't been, but are critical, I hope that you will at least give it a chance. May you hit the 1,000 ticket spot on the big wheel so that you can go home with a pink fuzzy stuffed animal!! :)
I can't believe that in the 21st century that there are still so many racial tones as what I have found in some of these comments. I am a black male, and I am origionally from Chicago,a city with great culture and diversity, sure there is racism there, but I have never seen such fear based and racially undertones as I have in the city of Milwaukee. And I have been to many places In and out of this Country, when I was in the Navy, but I have experienced more racism in this town more often than I care to say, get it together people or you will miss the Boat, signed Don't drink the Kool-Aide!!
I hope it succeeds. I really do. But to think it won't have problems with riff raff, is just plain nonsense. If Mayfair is having constant problems, don't you think there is some chance that the problem people will come to Dave and Busters, being that it is only a few blocks away? They need to have high security and a zero tolerance policy. There is no doubt the alcohol is going to cause problems. They need to crack down of offenders. I think the police will be called there fairly frequently. Just an opinion. I do like that it will provide jobs, and I don't think the traffic will be a big deal. Also, for all the people who think I am a racist for saying riff raff, your the racist. Who says I am talking about a specific race? I am just talking about the trouble makers. And no, I am not a redneck.
Why don't you all just come out and say it instead of beating around the bush? You are afraid of black people. Simple as that. Get over yourselves and actually live your lives without fear. You are embarassing yourselves.
Y'all serious? You are afraid of anything open past 9PM? I'm taking my new computer engineering and brain draining right on out of Wisconsin because of this kind of crap.
I am looking forward to taking the bus from the city along with my friends and 6 minors to accompany each of us. We have already decided that Dave and Buster's will be our hangout and we are going to cause trouble for anyone that wants to have clean fun there. The higher prices and upscale bar are sure to attract others like me, as well. I will look forward to leaving a mess in the bathroom and writing gang symbols on the walls. Thank you so much, Wauwatosa, for giving myself and fellow thugs and gang members a place to come..our favorite pastime is going out of our way to ruin communities that are trying to further their development and expansion. All sarcasm aside, the business will be a good addition to the empty lot wasteland that used to occupy that space. Corporations such as this do extensive market research before they determine where they will place their building. They would not go there if they perceived this to be a dangerous area. They have certainly done their research on the problems that happened at Mayfair. The traffic will not be fun, but it is already annoying on Hwy. 100 and I don't expect it to be much worse than it already is. I can't imagine how it would feel to live with such fear and pessimism in which a lot of you seem to live. I live in Wauwatosa. It is not dangerous.
People in Tosa have the most over-inflated sense of their community. Get over yourselves.
If this is your biggest concern, you really need to get a life. Everyone needs an outlet for fun. Just because this is not your idea fo fun, does not make it a horrible idea or a recipe for disaster. Lighten up and live a little!
If it's all too much for some of you Wauwatosa snobs; to have new business, a nice place for adults to have fun as well as a family friendly atmosphere in your quaint, unassuming, innocent little model city, then ask the next business of this nature that wants to bring in tax dollars and new influx of money in general to your clean, sanitized area to bring their business to the south side of Milwaukee! I'm sure the people near Southridge, or in Cudahy with their latest land fiasco, or South Milwaukee wouldn't mind a little shot in the arm of new money. Bitch, bitch, bitch, some people are never happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We can even protect the patrons and stores at the mall, so how can we make sure D&B's will be safe for the employees and patrons?l
Chicken wings and shootings. Sounds like a great addition to the community. All kidding aside, wherever D&B shows up... success blooms for local commerce. Look at the studies before you talk, people. They wouldn't be coming unless the area had potential. House values will soar!
I think no one considered one way or the other whether Dave & Buster's would be good/bad for Wauwatosa until the media decided to make a non-issue into a story. Why don't we wait to see how things go at a new business instead of villifying it before it even opens?
Everyone who lives in the suburbs should pick up roots and move to Montana or another western state where the population is far exceeded by the livestock who lives there. The suburbs are nothing but a refuge for people who lack the social skills to interact with other people. As someone who travels for work and truly enjoys big cities its sad to see so many people who negative view points of others. I've been to the Dave and Busters in Chicago, Houston, Kansas City and Addison and have never seen any trouble to report. Suburbanites should stay in their homes and hold on to their bibles, guns and watch Glen Beck since thats what their best at. The rest of the human population that has social skills and lacks racist undertones will continue to interact with the rest of society
D&B will be a great addition to the economy of not only Tosa but Milwaukee. They have their act together, and the nay-sayers will have to wait for a while. There will be some problems, traffic, underage drinking, etc. but that is life today. With all of the empty buildings and vacant lots in the area, the people of Tosa should welcome this New Taxpayer.I would guess that D&B's tax bill will be over $200,000.00.
Let me see if I have this straight...Another chain restaurant with average quality food, adult beverages and a chance to win a pack of M&M's with only 600 points and they are circling the wagons in Wauwatosa? With all due respect, some of you are embarrassing us with all the fear and loathing that some people of color might diminish your property values by attempting to invade your turf.Seems like the only people of color welcomed are the kids that play on your high school basketball teams.
A couple years back some friends in Dallas had their wedding reception at a D&B in the Dallas area. GREAT place! Some of you folks are an absolute embarrassment to yourselves and the Milwaukee area in general. I didn't really think racist when I first read Larry's comment. But I sure got that impression from some of the other locals comments. BTW: U turns are now legal at controlled intersections in Milwaukee (maybe the whole state?).
I have been a D&B patron since I was 7 years old. (I am now 31) I have never seen a problem in this venue. The staff is always fantastic and on point. I wonder how many folks that are speaking ill of D&B have actually ever been to one?? Don't judge until you try.
I firmly believed that if D and B did their homework(which I am sure they did), the place will be successful. I would have put the business in the old Pondo building or downtown but the present location should be fine. Stating that the trouble that Mayfair used to have will find its place at D and B is absurd. It is true that there are goofballs of all races and socioeconomic backgrounds. Just check out Water Street on the weekend to see that alcohol mixed with exuberance can lead to trouble. If D and B have hired off duty officers, charge a cover, and don't allow minors in after 9, the atmosphere will be cool. A writer stated that a lot of the young people that cause trouble have not had the upbringing necessary to do the right things. I totally agree. Good home training leads to great character later in life. If the business goes hard from the beginning, everything will fall into place. i am looking forward to going there with my family. I, too, want a place that is safe, fun, and a great place to take your family. And the fact that I don't live in Tosa tells me that I want the same things the Tosa residents want. Last point is that a lot businesses get a tarnished rep because they didn't take care of business. All they saw was the bottom line. A lot of good families went to the Chuck E Cheese when it ws on N. 76th st but they left because the company was either too scared or more likely enjoyed the cashflow that was coming in. I can mentioned many businesses that did the same thing..... Budget North, Capitol Court Cinemas, Grand Theathers, Grand Mall, Northridge, etc.. enough is enough. Build something for the young and run it right and watch a lot of the trouble leave.
Angela, thee type of people are the same type that cant go to Chucky Cheese and celibrate their childs birthday with getting into a brawl. Now, Chucky Cheese has changed its policy and doesnt serve alcohol. Which doesnt bother me because I wouldn't take my child to that dump to for any ocassion. But Larry is right, YOU can have fun at the hot mess to follow.
I'm not the one 2 stereotype ppl !! I think that the D&B will be ok, and with the right security measures, due 2 the business being kept under control. Customer Safety is suppose 2 serve as a purpose in an exstremly busy enviroment such D&B, the business can only be what we make of it. Let's Pray 4 a smooth beginning and outcome.
Well, now we know what D & B stands for. It fills in for more job creation BUT ,I dare to say, LOW wages and a dependence on tips to supplement the wages.I would advise the Tosa Police to to watch for traffic problems and crowds of rabelrousers. Hope it works.
Quite frankly, I don't understand where people are getting the notion that Dave and Buster's is going to attract gang activity. D&B's have opened all over the country in the past decade with minimal problems; the place doesn't cater to gang members! D&B's will generate much-needed tax revenue, jobs, will be a stimulant to the local economy, and will be largely problem-free.
Tosa people who don't want this, you're stuck up and need to realize that not everyone drinks wine and eats a gourmet meal every night. Stodgy old crabs.
I just have to say this... "J. Hayes" from Milwaukee... before you tell people to proof read their posts before they post... practice what you preach. You said, "Milwaukee County is one of the most segregated cities in the entire nation." Milwaukee County is not a city, it is a County. ANYWAY, a lot of trouble happens at Bowlero and the Mall. Bowling (at $4+ a game) and the Mall (which is never cheap) are expensive places to go as well and problems happen there a lot. Just because D&B is expensive doesn't mean it will keep trouble away. You can have money and still cause problems. Tosa has had 2 shootings this year already. I'm not sure if I can remember the last time Tosa had a shooting. It's cool to have a D&B in our area to promote growth, but at the same time, I don't think it'll be the greatest thing for Wauwatosa with all of the problem businesses close to HWY 100. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. It'll be interesting to keep track of it. I'm excited to go though; the one in Chicago was a lot of fun.
Lets give Wauwatos Larry some Love for speaking the truth.
Okay, will there be issues there? Yep. You know that going in. But there are issues with at Pic N Save (my car has been hit while I was shopping not once, not twice, but 3 seperate times, and I park as far away as possible) or at the mall, or at DSW shoes. Whether you like it or not, the riff raff don't sit in a basement all day. They are out and about just like the good people. You don't want problems at D&B's? Then go there so the place is so packed the riff raff have to go somewhere else. They only show up when there is opportunity. I get more aggrevated when I see stories in Tosa about the high and mighty residents and how many drug arrests at your high school in the last 6 months? You guys have bigger issues to worry about than where the riff and raff are at. Milwaukee has issues (see the story about how low our graduation rates are comparred to the nation?) Stalis has problems (foreclosures and teen pregnancy at record levels), Oak Creek, Waukesha, Whitefolks Bay and the teen overdoses. The whole area has issues. So why not try and work to correct some issues instead of insulating yourselves in your glass houses?
This a great thing for Tosa, you may think its going to be just like mayfair, but the security at the dave and busters is actually pretty good and its not like there isnt a local bus route newar by to take people there and home to avoid a possible arrest.
This is a preposterous debate. All these people bitch about urban undesirables and it's just nuts. Sorry to break it to you, but the world isn't comprised of white republicans. It's a mix of people of all races and economic backgrounds. Patrons and families regardless of race should be welcome in what could become Milwaukee's first diverse community. All these ridiculous hysterics are coming from Waukesha County close minded bigots. It's a business it creates jobs and tax revenues and provides a desired service. Sorry it's not Pandl's and sorry it's not Old German Milwaukee anymore. Get over it or get out and continue to live in isolated cow town bubbles on the periphery of a great diverse city.
We should close every business in the greater Milwaukee area. Then there won't be any more crime.
There will be problems
Great to read all the racist comments....If you have a problem with your community its not Dave and Busters fault....If you live there and think its so bad move......
It will be fine. Folks we need industry, we need jobs...people here drink a lot, butter to provide a wholesome activity as the main attraction rather than the liquor. Adults only and it is a nice place. Hired some local folks too and that is always good. We have to get out of looking at all change as negative.
I'm curious of what type of people Larry is referring to also????? Well I paid a visit to D & B and i was disappointed. I was disappointed because it wasn't what i was use to from a D & B. I attend D & B very frequently in the south and i just had high hopes for the one here ( construction wise ) and i fell let down. I'm happy that 's one here but I think the degisning of it should have been thought through a little more. D & B is suppose to be an adult chuck e cheese and i felt that its more of a restaurant. Also i was disturbed because i didn't get carded and there were small children in there. That's just not what I'm use to from a D & B, but maybe things will change and it's just like this for the opening week :)
I think this is great. I would gladly allow the businesses to absorb some of my property taxes! I think its comical that my neighbors in Tosa have such a bias view of the world. It is no surprise that they would post such comments as "type of people who will be going to D&B" (LARRY). Tosa is located right by the northside, so I am not sure where people get the idea that we live in a such great area of Milwaukee. Talk about stuck up for no appearant reason. Hopefully, D&B will be a great place for teens to go to and stay off of the street, off my lawn and away from breaking into cars. Teens need somewhere to go, like it or not. If you don't want to share the mall, or the movie theatre or anywhere else on Hwy 100, then give teens a place to go and get out of YOUR HAIR. Get out of the fishbowl mentality Tosa folks, as well as anyone else who thinks they better how to run this city. I gladly welcome your name on the ballot at the next city election!!!
IT'S BEEN 3 DAYS , THE COPS HAVE NOT BEEN CALLED, THE CITY ISNT BURNING, THE PLACE IS NEW , ALL YOU "WORLD IS ENDING" PEOPLE CLAIM THAT IT'S GOING TO BE SO BAD, WELL DONT COME , MOVE OUT OF THE CITY AND BUILD A SHELTER AND LIVE IN IT . I THINK ITS GOING TO BE FINE AND TIME WILL TELL THAT IT WILL BE A GOOD FIT FOR TOSA, ALSO MAYFAIR MALL IS FINE , THE PROGRAMS IN PLACE ARE KEEPING DOWN THE CALLS TO THE POLICE AND D&B DID NOT SPEND ALL THIS MONEY TO HAVE IT FAIL, FOR ALL YOU NEGITIVE JACK ASSES , STAY HOME.
Man, I was actually looking to buy a house on Tosa but with all of the closed minded comments and irrational fear on this list I may have to reconsider. It doesn't sound like a very neighborly place to live.
OMGZ, Dave & Buster's totally means the coming of the four horsemen of the apocalypse! Wauwatosans, run for your liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiives!!! Forget teenage hangout. Teens already ruined Six Flags for me, and it isn't because they're troublemakers or ethnically diverse, it's because they shriek a lot, most have crappy manners nowadays, and they don't realize how irritating they are to others. (I can't wait until ten years from now when they're in my shoes, looking at teenagers and swearing "I was NOT that annoying, was I?"...) I digress. I'm looking forward to Dave & Buster's because now this means I don't have to go to Chuck E. Cheese's just to play SkeeBall, which means now I don't HAVE to put up with all of your teens and rugrats in order to be able to be young at heart in public with my friends. I'm 29. I'm not ready to be relegated to a bar stool or stuck in the house watching reality TV for the rest of my life. And most of the patrons of this place are probably going to be people much like me...young professionals who grew up with places like Chuck E. Cheese and who want to go relive some of that childhood fun with their friends and some adult beverages. And I'll tell ya what, having to make an extra turn here or there on Hwy 100 to do so is a lot easier than driving to Illinois.
Better there than at Bayshore. There will be nothing but trouble...mark my words.
I have been working at Dave and Buster's since it opened Monday 03/01/10. There has not been 1 single problem with any patron. It is crowded and is generating a great deal of money not only for the business, but for Wauwatosa. I am 1 of the security officers and the rules that Dave and Buster's implemented along with the help of the Wauwatosa Police Department send an immediate message to all patrons as to what is expected from them if they want to enjoy the facility. It is really too bad to see all the negative comments, especially the comments from the obvious simple-minded racist posts from several of the people who have posted about "the types of people" that this will attract. In my opinion, those of you who make those idiotic stupid comments would most likely be the patrons who would be the problem if you were to come to the facility. So stay home, hide behind your computer screens and play your stupid fantasy online games because you obviously have no social skills to act like decent human beings. Dave and Buster's is a great thing not only for Tosa, but for the entire region. There are more problems at the Brewers games, Summerfest or any other event that is ill-prepared to handle large crowds. Dave and Buster's has an excellent business plan and they certainly have their bases covered.
Extra! Extra! No offense, but I think the JournalSentinel might be making too big a deal out of the opening of Dave & Buster's.
P.S., what a bunch of racists. Rampant racism and almost unparalleled segregation, of course, contribute toward creating a number of the "problems" with which rampant racists and segregationists justify their rampant racism and segregationism. Hey Ryan, no offense but why don't get the stick out of your backside and empty some of the nauseating bigotry out of your brain, you could obviously use the extra room in there. Actually, on second thought, offense.
I'm disappointed the Mayor didn't fight this. It will be Mayfair all over again.
Now theyll have to build a bigger jail.
The Dave & Busters in downtown Chicago does a great job controlling the younger crowd. They enforce their under 21 policy very strictly. The staff has always been very courteous, but firm. If the Tosa staff manages the business in the same manner, I think everyone will find D&B's to be a wonderful addition to the community. No, I don't work for the company, nor do I know anyone who does. But I am a 30-something who enjoys games and a beer without have to deal with a crowd of children. I'll be making my first visit to the new location tomorrow.
I wonder what type of people that would be? And the ignorance prevails...This is one of the general problems with Milwaukee, stereotypical ideology that a certain type of people come into your area there will be more crime. Everyone take a moment of silence so we can let this statement resonate...Crimes are commited everywhere!Milwaukee,Wauwatosa, Bayshore, Elmbrook and Greenfield. Human interaction or a populus there might be a crime commited. One bad apple does not spoil the bunch. What is Wauwatosa, a gated community? Let me know when it does get gated maybe then the undercover drug addicts and alcholics will get found out, a crime is a crime right Larry? This is why some businesses thrive and some leave Wisconsin, there is nothing here for people to enjoy.
Went there last night. The traffic is a nightmare, there was litter everywhere, and it was about 95% black. Where were all of you white liberals who were so happy about his place opening?
Wow, Mary, did you REALLY just say that? You listed litter, traffic and the fact that 95% of the patrons were black as being negatives. Try and be a little more racist.
I had my first D&B experience this weekend and Wauwatosa and I have to say i was very disappointed, first off I did not think kids where allowed into the establishment and when I mean kids I mean 10 year olds running round till all hours of the night, 2nd inadequate seating and 3 hour wait time for food which was to be expected given they just opened, Dress code rules posted outside and was not followed at all, and the way people where dressed in that place, which is fine but when you have kids that are 10 y/o I find that unacceptable, I seen some people walking round with 7 month old’s kids in there arm , I think it will be my last visit, I go out on weekends to get away from the kids for a while not to run into stacks more at a place that focused on adults, I can almost guarantee you will have the "clientele" from mayfair mall spilling into D&B just like I saw on Saturday night, an absolute disgrace seeing kids 10 Y/o running round that place at 10:30
I went last night for the first time. Horrible first experience. It wasn't the people, per se - but the wait staff. "Kyle" in particular was a huge idiot. There certainly was a mixed crowd, and you could tell when different factions of "hood" where there, and decent people (of any color, for all your crybabies here). Like previously mentioned by someone else - the fact that the stupid asses (the "types of people" we are talking about) have their kids there, late at night, and ON LEASHES. Really? Get a baby sitter if you are going to come out. As for the "types of people" - certainly a "hood element" present, but it wasn't overrun. That's a good thing. Hopefully there won't be trouble in the upcoming months. If and when that happens, I guess all of us "bigots" and "racists" can just sit back like we've always done, point our finger and say "I told you so." And Elvis - no offense taken. It's your stupidity that gives you a "high than thou" attitude by calling me a bigot and racist. Stats don't lie. You, being as smart as you are, should be able to piece together some sort of intelligent thinking, and look at numbers rather than skin tone. Just calls it how I sees it. Not a single person on this board, aside from one recent post, mentioned blacks, whites, asians, purple people eaters, smurfs, or any other specific "type" of people. That fact that you can identify different groups, and assume the meaning behind the words spoken/typed, means that your are clouded by your ignorance. If you can figure out what "type" of people "we" are talking about, then that means you know damn well the reasoning behind what was said. Grow up.
Save your money. I was certainly not impressed. We went last night (3/15 Monday). The bartender (Lisa) sucked, you can only buy 1 beer at a time, the ladies front bathroom was leaking toilet water, one of the sinks didn't work, the dining room line was 20 mins. wait (didn't look busy to me), the games don't spit out all of your winnings, and prizes...like I want a stuffed animal. They can keep the 'casino' feel...I'll go to the casino next time. Oh, and happy hour is until 7pm, although we got charged full price. My overall vote: 2 Thumbs Down. My bet is the novelty will wear off within a year.
This is the problem with milwaukee now only dumb hick racist caucasions would make comments like they are. Get a life Dave and Buster's was around five years ago, I went in Atlanta. This is why Milwaukee cannot grow you people have the nerves talking about crime at Mayfair mall. What about all the dope your good white children are dying of in every suburb in Milwaukee. If you people are going to talk the talk, then walk the walk, that's what's up this isn't the 1950's get a life.
Here you go people - some of you "impressed" me so much that I wrote about you. Enjoy: http://www.wauwatosanow.com/blogs/communityblogs/88771592.html

I think there is going to be nothing but trouble and they will have problems similar to Mayfair. Just take a look at the type of people who will be going to Dave and Buster's.
