The Village of Shorewood is considering a number of changes to its parking regulations, especially in the southeast quadrant of the village, an area bordered by Edgewood Avenue on the south, Capitol Drive on the north, the lake on the east and Oakland Avenue on the west.
One of the many changes is on-street parking in that quadrant would be limited to two hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Two on-street permits would be offered to every household at a fee of $5 per car per year.
What do you think of the proposed changes to parking? Will this keep UWM students and employees from parking their cars for long periods of time in Shorewood? Would it help keep neighborhoods more quiet at night?

(3) Read All Responsessince i came to shorewood the one thing that is screwed up is the parking situation-glad to see they are going to fix it! NOW IF THEY COULD JUST DO SOMETHING WITH THE SCHOOL SYSTEM!
The household fee should be dependant on the type of car, for example maybe a car that gets 40 mpg or more should only pay $5/year, cars that get 39-30 mpg should pay $100/year, cars that get 29-20 mpg should pay $500/year and cars that get less than 20 mpg should pay $1000/year. All based on the average EPA rating for the car/truck.

Wow, wow, wow. Am I understanding this right? (I hope I am not) Homeowners can park on the street during the day for 2+ hours but renters can't? Talk about a class system. Why not just come out and say it? Renters...please move out of Shorewood.
