How they are chosen
Lance Baretz simply had no peer when it came to passing the ball this season. The senior quarterback kept alive the Sabers' tradition of quarterbacking excellence and is the 2010 NOW All-Suburban Football Player of the Year.
Five seniors and a junior from Franklin earned spots on this season's All-Suburban Team, tying the mark set by the school's state-champion team in 2006. In addition to Lance Baretz, the players on the NOW team are Brenden Butler, Anthony Meyer, Brady Oates, Macon Plewa and Craig Christian.(5)
Jordan Campbell, who earns a spot on the All-Suburban Team for the second straight season, is joined on the squad by dual-threat Andrew Brees and three-year starters Noah Jankowski and James Wilson.
Whitnall's Joel Stave quarterbacked his way to a second consecutive berth on the All-Suburban team. He is joined by teammate Jason Marshall and Greenfield's Jason Katrichis.(1)
Wauwatosa West junior Reggie Cole, Jr. is known as a shutdown cornerback. After the fine season he just had, he is also known as a NOW Newspapers All-Suburban player.(1)
Max Vielmetti and Donte Phillips made sure the Highlanders had stalwarts on both sides of the ball this season. Vielmetti keyed the offensive line while Phillips was a force on defense. Both credited superior coaching for their success.
Nicolet's Nick Corley becomes the first Knight to earn an All-Suburban berth since 1999. The defensive back was a leader on the field, picking off five passes and helping bring the Knights a new sense of optimism.
Brown Deer's Chris Smith scored 21 touchdowns in just six games before an ankle injury halted his outstanding season.
West Allis Central's Jon Green and Nathan Hale's Sam Versnik played on opposite sides of the ball for their respective football teams this fall but were equally dominant.(1)
Germantown's Malcolm Bowers and Adam Hurtz were two of the Warhawk mainstays as the squad made a late-season run that featured a victory over rival Homestead in the second round of the playoffs.
New Berlin West's Dom Bledsoe and Chad Mathwig formed a potent aerial duo this season as Bledsoe threw 28 touchdown passes and the 6-foot-6 Mathwig hauled in 14.
Muskego running backs Jordan Gruettner and Luke Przybylka combined for almost 2,500 yards this season, baffling opponents with fake handoffs that created opening running lanes.
Brookfield East was rewarded for its best season in years with three berths on the All-Suburban team while Brookfield Central punter Nick Holland earned a spot for the Lancers.
In his first season at Brookfield East, Tom Swittel led the Spartans to the playoffs for the first time since 2003 and earned a nod as the NOW All-Suburban Coach of the Year.
This season was the second time fans could vote for the NOW All-Suburban Football Team. Nearly 21,000 votes were cast online during 11 days of voting. You can see all the nominees here.
